Finnish rules on cookies (Act on Electronic Communications Services 917/2014, section 205, and the Traficom guidance in force from 13 September 2021) allow a site to store data on your device without asking only when that storage is strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Everything else — analytics cookies, advertising pixels, tracking across sites — needs your active consent, and refusing must be as easy as accepting. A legitimate interest is not a basis for a cookie.
This site keeps to the first category only. It sets exactly one cookie, and only for people who sign in to their own page: gw_session, which keeps you signed in and holds nothing but a random value. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising pixels, no embedded video, no third-party fonts or scripts, and no tracking of any kind. That is why you see no banner: there is nothing to consent to, and a banner that asks for consent nobody needs would only train you to click through.

The sign-in cookie, in plain words
You ask for a link to the e-mail address you used in your application or enquiry. The link works once. When you open it, our server checks it, marks it used, creates a session and sets gw_session in your browser. From then on your browser sends that one value back with each request to your page, and we look up the session; the cookie itself says nothing about you.
HttpOnly means no script on the page can read it. Secure means it travels only over an encrypted connection. SameSite=Lax means another site cannot make your browser send it. It is not used for statistics, not shared with anyone, and not read on any page except your own. Logging out deletes the session record on our side; closing the browser leaves the cookie until it expires, which is why a shared computer deserves a log-out. Language, forms and the calculator
We do not store your language choice. The language is part of the address: pages under /en/ are English, pages under /ru/ are Russian. There is no automatic redirect by location or browser settings — you choose the language from the menu, and the site remembers nothing about it.
The calculator runs in your browser and sends nothing to us. The forms send data only when you press the button, over an encrypted connection, and the reply from our server carries instructions to store nothing and to keep the response out of search engines. What happens to the data you send is described in the Privacy notice.
Advertising and links from other sites
When we advertise — for example in Facebook groups — we place a campaign tag (UTM) in the link so that we can count how many profiles come from which campaign. The tag is part of the address you clicked and is recorded with your profile only if you send one. It is not a cookie and does not follow you to other sites. No advertising network places a pixel or a cookie on this site.
Common questions
I have never signed in. Does this site set any cookie for me?
No. Read the pages, use the calculator, send a form — none of it needs a cookie. gw_session appears only when you open the one-time sign-in link from our e-mail.
How do I remove what the site stored in my browser?
Log out — that deletes the session on both sides. Close the tab and the calculation snapshot disappears on its own. You can also clear site data in your browser settings at any time; nothing on the site depends on it, you would simply sign in again with a new link.
Do you know who I am when I use the calculator?
No. The calculator needs no name, e-mail or registration, it sends nothing to us, and we collect no per-visitor statistics.
