Electricians installing cable trays on a data centre construction site in Finland — electrical installation jobs

Industrial LV installation · power distribution · busbar work · Finland (EU)

Electrician pay on data-centre sites in Finland

Compare the electrical installation agreement's hourly rates with a scenario based on your work experience. The estimate uses time-based pay and a 160-hour working month.

Scope: industrial low-voltage installation, power distribution and busbar work. The applicable agreement and your classification are checked for the assignment.

What could my pay look like?

Three short steps, about three minutes. The result stays in your browser — nothing is sent until you press "Send my profile". No registration or contact details are needed to see the result.

Your trade Electrician (industrial LV, busbar)

Which description fits the work you actually do?

Pick the closest description of the work you actually do. Under both agreements the group comes from comparing your competence with the classification of the work — not from years served. Special entry and qualification rules can move the result, so we confirm it with you.

Can you complete your usual work independently from drawings?

Can you read the drawings and carry out the installation without step-by-step supervision?

Shift

The selected shift supplement is applied to all 160 hours. Evening and night work carry a supplement under the agreement.

Hours per month 160 160 paid working hours per month — a scenario without overtime.

Tax

A short stay may involve different tax-at-source rules, so we check your take-home pay separately and show no net figure until we have.

20 % is an example for comparison, not a calculation of your personal tax. If you stay in Finland six months or less, tax at source is usually 35 % with a possible deduction; a progressive option exists (Vero 2026). Finnish pension and unemployment contributions are assumed to apply.

Your basis for working in Finland

We ask so that we can check the right to work for the assignment. Living in another EU country does not by itself establish the right to work in Finland. Do not send identity documents with this form.

Collective agreement for the electrical contracting and installation sector 2025–2028, rates valid from 1 August 2026; rates and agreement checked 26 September 2026. Next scheduled rate change: 1 July 2027.

On what basis is this figure calculated?

On the pay table of the Collective agreement for the electrical contracting and installation sector 2025–2028. The parties to the agreement are Sähköalojen ammattiliitto ry (Sähköliitto), Sähkötekniset työnantajat STTA ry, Palvelualojen työnantajat PALTA ry. We read the agreement text itself and checked the figures on 26 September 2026; the source and the date are repeated next to every rate below.

The monthly figure is one scenario: the table rate of a pay group times 160 hours in one shift pattern, minus the employee contributions and the tax percentage you enter. It does not contain overtime, Saturday, Sunday and public-holiday pay, the holiday bonus, daily allowance, accommodation and travel.

Two things stay preliminary until we have your documents. Which agreement applies is decided by the employer and the subject of the contracting work, not by the name of the trade. And the pay group is set by a description of the work you carry out independently: the result is a pair of adjacent groups for checking, never a single figure presented as final.

We show gross pay. Take-home depends on your tax card, the length of your stay, your tax residence and the country of your social insurance. A valid A1 certificate from another EU country excludes the corresponding Finnish employee contributions (7.30 % pension and 0.89 % unemployment in 2026) — but not income tax and not the contributions of the A1 country, so it is not simply 8.19 % more in hand. For a stay of six months or less, tax at source of 35 % with the deduction your tax card allows (510 € a month or 17 € a day in 2026) or progressive taxation on application may apply; a stay longer than six months is taxed progressively from its start. Sources: Vero and the Finnish Centre for Pensions, checked 26 September 2026.

This is a scenario calculation based on the details you entered and the rates valid from 1 August 2026. The pay group shown is preliminary and will be confirmed after we check your documents and skills. The applicable collective agreement, hourly rate, agreed minimum hours, housing and expense reimbursements are confirmed only in a written offer. Tax depends on your status and Finnish tax card. This is not a job offer, not a term of employment and not a guarantee of a residence permit.

Which hourly rates does the calculator use?

It uses column B: the minimum personal time-based hourly rate for each group. Column A is a different tariff and is shown separately for reference. Your agreed personal rate may be higher. The calculator does not assign a personal supplement from years of experience.

Which pay group does an electrician get in Finland?

The electrical installation agreement has pay groups S and 1–5. The group follows the work you carry out independently from drawings, your relevant training and your experience. Nationality and language may not be used to set a pay group (Non-discrimination Act 1325/2014, section 8).

Experienced electricians arriving from abroad are usually placed in groups 2–3 at first hire and move to groups 4–5 once independent work across power and low-current systems has been confirmed on site. This is our reading of the agreement, not a rule in it — that is why the calculator compares two groups and we confirm the group after checking your documents. The agreement requires the exact group to be determined within three months of hiring; until a group is determined, pay follows group 2.

In staff leasing the collective agreement of the user company applies (Employment Contracts Act 55/2001, chapter 2, section 9). For electrical contractors that is the agreement shown here. Your written offer names the agreement, the group and the rate.

What is deducted from gross pay in 2026?

From your gross pay the employer withholds the employee pension contribution 7.30 % and the employee unemployment insurance contribution 0.89 % (ETK 21 November 2025, Työllisyysrahasto 5 December 2025, Vero 8 December 2025), and tax according to your Finnish tax card. If you have no tax card yet, the calculator shows an illustrative 20 % — an example for comparison, not your personal tax. If you stay in Finland six months or less, tax at source is usually 35 % with a possible deduction; a progressive option exists. Health insurance is inside the withholding — it is not deducted a second time.

The calculator shows gross pay for 160 hours and an estimated take-home range. It does not calculate overtime, weekend rates, annual income or a personal supplement in euros — those are agreed in writing.

What is not included?

Daily allowance, accommodation and travel are checked separately for the assignment. Two questions must be answered: is a payment due under the agreement, and does it meet the conditions for tax exemption? A site is a temporary special place of work for at most three years; daily travel between your lodging and the site does not create a daily allowance.

  • 2026 domestic full daily-allowance maximum: 54 €/day
  • Partial daily-allowance maximum: 25 €/day
  • Meal allowance: 13.50 €
  • Own-car business-travel maximum: 0.55 €/km, plus 0.04 €/km per passenger

These are conditional tax-free limits (Vero decision of 7 November 2025, checked 26 September 2026), not automatic additions to your pay. Meal provision may reduce the tax-free amount. We state in the written offer what applies to your assignment.

What do we check before an electrical assignment?

We check the work you can carry out independently, your relevant training, your right to work in Finland and the safety requirements of the assignment. Bring examples of the systems and tasks you have completed.

Questions electricians ask before an assignment

Do I need a personal S1 or S2 qualification?

An installer's role is different from the role of the company's electrical work supervisor (sähkötöiden johtaja). We check the responsibilities of the specific position before deciding which qualifications are required. When you work through us for an electrical contractor, the contractor's supervisor carries the S1/S2 responsibility; the Tukes examination behind it is held only in Finnish or Swedish and costs 120 € per attempt (Tukes, checked 26 September 2026) — relevant for supervisors, not for installer roles.

Which safety documents may I need?

The assignment may require an Occupational Safety Card, SFS 6002 electrical safety training and relevant first-aid training. We check the site requirements and the validity of your existing documents. See document order, course examples and sources.

Can I apply if something is missing?

Yes. Tell us about your experience. We will identify the missing steps and discuss how the agreed onboarding can be arranged.

Do I need Finnish?

The working language on the sites we staff is English. The requirement of the work is English at B1 level for site instructions and safety briefings. Finnish is not required for installer roles.

Does my foreign diploma give me a higher group?

It supports the group assessment, but the TES qualification supplements are paid for Finnish vocational qualifications. A foreign diploma does not add the supplement automatically; an advisory statement from OPH/EDUFI takes 2–4 months. Independent work across power and low-current systems is what supports groups 3–5.

I do not have the right to work in Finland yet. Can I still send my profile?

Yes. If a permit is needed, the route and timing depend on the assignment and your circumstances: a residence permit for an employed person (TTOL) requires at least 1 600 €/month gross in 2026, the state fee is 750 € online, and a labour-market test applies unless your occupation is exempted regionally (Migri, checked 25 September 2026). We consider mobilisation only against a confirmed order. Your profile can stay in our talent pool.

What if a proposed assignment pays less than the calculation?

We explain any differences between your estimate and a proposed assignment before you decide. If a group has to be set lower after the document check, we show the reason and ask for your confirmation before anything is signed.

What could improve your pay or access to assignments?

A safety card does not raise the rate by itself. Some steps enable site access; others support a more demanding role or a supplement under the applicable agreement.

  • Needed for access — Check Occupational Safety Card and SFS 6002 requirements. See the course duration and provider examples below.
  • Opens more qualified work — Show evidence of independent work across power and low-current systems, or complete industrial systems.
  • May affect TES pay — Ask us to check whether a recognised vocational qualification or the responsibilities of the role qualify for a contractual supplement.
  • Useful preparation — Prepare clear examples of completed work and practise explaining site instructions and safety issues in English.

Provider example: Alertum, SFS 6002 online course in English — 199 € + VAT, allow 4–6 hours, certificate valid 5 years (checked 26 September 2026). Practical skills: cost and timing are assessed individually; no standard course price or completion time is available.

Your trade tells us which collective agreement pay table to read. Choosing it is not yet a promise of a place — the written offer confirms that.

Years of experience do not set your pay group: the description of the work you carry out independently does. We ask so that the call is about the right kind of work.

The country you would travel from affects travel arrangements and social-security paperwork. It is not a criterion for pay or for a pay group.
